Internships are excellent college opportunities because they allow you to do the following:    

Decide what you want. Internships vary in many ways, including:

  • Credit vs. Non-credit
    If you decide to register for the internship for class credit(s), contact your academic department to ensure you follow the requirements and guidelines of your department.
  • Required for Major vs. not required
    If you are required to do an internship as part of your major, it is very likely your college has internship resources. An internship advisor may even help you find your internship opportunity.
  • Paid vs. Unpaid
  • Full Time Summer vs. Part Time during Academic Year

  • Meet with a career counselor at the CSU Career Center
  • Network with family and friends
  • Attend Career Fairs
  • Identify employers in phone book yellow pages
