Hi Humans! I’m Snow Webb (they/her), a proud new Ram and a first-year PhD student in Education, Equity, and Transformation as of August 2024. My life has been rooted in Minnesota, to Southern California, then Indiana, and now, Colorado!
Academically, I have a few branches that all fall under the broader umbrella of belonging, exclusion, connection, and resilience. Currently, I focus on the sociopolitical realities of food systems and how human narratives around food shape our identities and communities. I’m also passionate about exploring the haunting effects of non-equitable literacy practices in education—how labels like “remedial” can have lasting, invisible impacts on students or the model minority myth’s representation in young adult literature. Additionally, I have some past experiences with media representations of archetypes, good-bad binaries, and body image.
A bit more about me: I’m multiracial, Taiwanese- and White-American, and I love blending my cultural heritage into my work and life. Outside of academics, I’ve recently become obsessed with Minecraft Dungeons, having picked it up this summer (it’s dangerously addictive!). I also used to teach middle school, and those experiences have deeply shaped my perspective on education, equity, and student empowerment.
When I’m not gaming or working, you’ll probably catch me getting overly competitive with ultimate frisbee or rewatching my favorite cartoons over and over. 🙂
