The McNair Scholars Program at Colorado State University helps prepare undergraduate students for graduate studies through research, mentorship, and academic support. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the program empowers first-generation, income-eligible, and underrepresented students to pursue graduate education and academic and research careers.

About Us

Established in 1986 in honor of scientist and astronaut Dr. Ronald E. McNair, the program reflects his legacy of excellence and opportunity. McNair Scholars gain access to a funded summer research internship, faculty and graduate student mentorship, graduate school preparation workshops, and funded travel for conferences and campus visits. The program’s mission is to increase access to research and graduate education for students from low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented backgrounds.
