Hello, hola! My name is Stephanie Cuevas (she/her/ella) and I’m thrilled to serve as the CSU McNair Scholars Program Assistant Director. I am a proud Latina from Los Angeles, California, and refer to myself as a city girl at heart. I am a first-generation student from a low-income background, who graduated with a B.A. in psychology and minored in education from UC Santa Barbara. I am also a proud CSU Ram and received my master’s in Student Affairs and Higher Education in 2019. I’ve learned to navigate systems of higher education through the help of my community and hope to pass along the learning that has been passed down to me by mentors, teachers, and friends.
I believe in the work of TRIO and hope to make an impact for future generations of students. I bring my full self to the work I do and commit to using a conscious race and equitable lens in this work. I believe in using a holistic approach as I connect with and advise students as we navigate the graduate school process together. In my spare time I enjoy powerlifting, eating good food, building community with friends and loved ones, traveling, being outside, and caring for plants. Stop by my office anytime to connect!
