About Heather Gutekunst

Hi there! I’m Heather Gutekunst (she/her), and I am so excited to join the College Assistance Migrant Program as an Administrative Assistant. After graduating from UCCS with a BA in Women’s and Ethnic Studies, I knew I wanted to support minoritized communities in working toward equitable access to education. I recently completed my graduate studies here at CSU, and during my time in the English program, I taught freshman composition and contemporary global literature, encouraging my students to find their voices in the CSU community and beyond.  In this time, I only saw the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what first-year students go through and often became discouraged with how little I felt I could support my students. With that being said, I am dedicated to lifelong learning, and I hope to support CAMP students in any way I can. Throughout all of my studies and projects, storytelling is always at the core of my work in advocacy and social justice.

Outside of work, you can always find me pulled between my latest favorite book and videogame with my cat, Penny, on my lap. I love hiking, writing, playing DND or other board games, and being in nature. If you need any book or game recommendations, I’m your gal.
